Elementary
Science Grade 5
In Elementary Science Grade 5, students learn how to better see God’s handiwork and power in the world around them and expound on the foundational skills they’ve already established, as they actively engage in science and engineering practices. As they investigate matter and atoms, energy and force, the solar system, and patterns of weather and climate, learners ask questions, define problems, develop and use models, plan and conduct investigations, and analyze and interpret data. They use mathematics and informational technology, construct explanations, design solutions, engage in scientific arguments using evidence, and communicate results. Students also explore how God cares for His creation, how He can be trusted even when they may not entirely understand the situations they face, and how Christians can be a light to the world. A framework of active learning supports and allows students to engage, explore, explain, elaborate, and evaluate throughout the course. This dynamic format also helps students build a biblically accurate understanding of God’s Earth from hands-on experiences and discovery of new ideas.
