Technology Grade 4

Elementary Technology Grade 4 engages students through exploration, as they investigate the impact of technology on people’s lives. They learn what technology can reveal about them personally, recognize that their actions have positive and negative influences on others, and study the processes of salvation and sanctification. As students learn how to use technology for communication and collaboration, students ascertain how tone can be misunderstood and how to acquire healthy technology habits. This course also exposes students to concepts such as problem-solving and algorithms, security and privacy, copyright, computer programming basics, and keyboarding skills. In addition to developing basic skills in computer science, students explore their spiritual growth through an appreciation for the diversity of God’s creation, godly relationships, and facing challenges. Furthermore, the course integrates standards from health and language arts with topics about safety, bullying/cyberbullying, and being a responsible digital citizen. Students explore technology and the biblical principles that accompany their participation in a digital world. Collaboration and communication are also focused on, as integrated language arts and math practice standards are found throughout the course.

School supplies: Ruler, three-ring binder, pencils, erasers, glue, scissors, crayons, colored pencils, tape, printer paper, and multicolored paper

In addition to a computer with an Internet connection, most courses require speakers (or headphones); a digital camera or scanner to take photos of completed work; a printer; common household items; and productivity software for word processing, presentations, etc.
